All this week I've noticed that there have been posters on the school campus stating that some doctors will be coming in to do blood test on us. Its not optional. Every student has to do it. I was a little skeptical at first but then it didn't bother me anymore. But the only thing that's got me worried is Tony. He's been acting a little funny lately, and I don't mean that literally. He avoids the subject of doctors and blood and the whole blood test thing itself! He looks pale when he walks by a poster and when our teachers gave us instructions on where to go, when to go and how to behave during the test, Tony looked like he was gonna hurl! I didn't like the idea of strangers taking my blood either. I figured to talk to him to make sure he was okay. I walked up to the guys who were talking about some perverted stuff. :\
"That's what she said!" Mike laughed and the boys joined in looking like they were going to die of glee
"Classic." Tony said wiping a tear away
"Hey guys." I smiled
"Whats up?" asked Philip
"Nothing much," I answered "just needed to talk to Tony for a sec."
Tony smiled and Mike and Philip went "Oooooooooo!"
"Sure," Tony said walking with me away from the guys. We were far but I still heard Mike call out saying "Get it!"
We walked over to the big lawn out back and sat on the grass.
"Whats up?" he asked
"How you doing?" I asked nervously
"Uh, fine...and you?"
"Content."
Tony smiled.
"You've been acting weird lately..." I began
Tony looked at me confused. "What do you mean?"
"Every since we were told we were going to be having a blood test you've been acting weird."
Tony rubbed the back of his neck. "Uh...its just....nothing."
"Come on, you can tell me."
"Its not a big deal."
"It is if it bothers you this much."
"Don't worry about it."
"So I can open up to you, but you cant open up to me?"
Tony paused looking irritated, but I was still right and he knew it.
"It's just...." he sighed "I'm afraid of needles..."
I tried not to smile. "What?"
"You heard me."
I giggled.
"It's not funny!" he complained
"Okay! Okay! I'm sorry!" I cried "I just figured the amazing Tony wasn't afraid of anything."
"When did I ever say that?"
-two weeks ago-
crowd: TO-NY! TO-NY!
Tony: *about to ride skateboard on rim of roof*
Jamie: Isn't that dangerous!? :O
Tony: The amazing Tony isn't afraid of anything! XD *jumps off*
-present-
"Oh..yeah."
I laughed. "It will be okay. You won't even feel it."
"That's what she said." he said smirking and I nudged him in the shoulder and he nudged me back.
Later that day I heard the doctors had arrived and were ready to start taking kids in. It would take, possibly all day and even longer since there are so many kids at the school. The gang and I were hanging out in the garden when Tyler and Grace came running up to us.
"Guys! Guys!" Tyler said in panic
"What?" asked Philip
"Grace and I saw the doctors enter the school!"
"So?" said Tony
"But they aren't really doctors! Their scientist from the lab that work in my dad's company! I know them personally!"
"What!?" Jasmine asked
"Yeah! Its true! I recognize them to!" said Grace
"So, what do we do?" I asked
Everyone was quiet for a moment. Then Philip said: "We need to find out what they are up to."
"Naw duh!" mocked Audree "The problem is, how."
Philip pondered. "Do you guys know where the blood testing is sopost to take place?"
"The nurse...?" said Tony
Philip smirked,"Yes but where?"
"Room B93" I said remembering what the posters said
"We need someone to go find a way to spy on them and figure out what they want."
We all started walking into the school. Not many ideas were coming to mind and Tony gasped saying.
"When I went there for a physical I remembered looking up and seeing a vent. What if we take it old school and someone crawls through the vents and someone else can cause a distraction to get the doctors away and then the other person comes out the vent and goes through their computers and files or something....."
"Why did you need a physical?" asked Mike
-two weeks ago-
Tony: The amazing Tony isn't afraid of anything! XD *jumps off*
Crowd: TO-NY! TO-NY!
Tony: Whoo hooo! >:D *falls off rim and lands on the ground on his back* X(
We all stared at him for a moment and then Philip said "That's actually not a bad idea. But why would someone have to go through the vet when they could go in through the front when the doctors are gone?"
"Because then someone would know that someone went in the room in the first place." smirked Tony
Philip was about to comment but then smiled.
"I should go," said Tyler "I'm the best at computers."
"But what if the vents aren't big enough for you?" I asked "The smallest and quickest should go."
We all looked at Grace. She was a little taller the Audree who was the shortest but, Grace was much more petite. She weighed less. She was the better option. Grace noticed we were all looking at her.
"But I'm not good with computers!" she cried "I wouldn't know where to look or what to do."
"I would need to walk you through it."agreed Tyler
"But how?" asked Grace
Tyler smirked and pulled out a box from his backpack and in the box were four walkie talkies. They were half the size of the palm of someones hand.
"How convienet." Audree said crossing her arms
Tyler smiled "I always carry these things around. I actually carry a bunch of random stuff around." He fished in his book bag again and pulled out rope.
"Really?" questioned Jasmine
Tyler shrugged. Mike smiled. "You got any Monster in there?"
Tyler pulled one out and tossed it to Mike who caught and and smiled even wider. "Nice."
"So are we really going to do this?" asked Jasmine
Tyler looked at Grace who nodded and then looked at Philip. "Yeah."
"Finally! An adventure."
So basically Tyler, Mike, Philip, Jasmine, and I were going to hide near the vent behind the kitchen in the cafeteria. It as empty at the time we went so we knew we would be safe. We were going to help guide Grace through the vents with a map Tyler printed out for us that he got online of the buildings vents when they were constructing the place. One Grace got inside the room Tyler would take over and tell her what to do. Tony and Audree would lead the doctors away from the room long enough for Grace to go in and the info. Then with the rope Tyler contributed, Grace would climb back into the vent in the ceiling and we would be set!
So Jasmine, Mike, Tyler and I opened the vent while Grace crawled through. A rope was tied around her waist and Jasmine helped the rope go along and Philip read the map and guided Grace through.
"Okay now make a left." He said through the walkie talkie.
Once she was looking down on the vent that showed the nurse room all she had to do was wait for Tony to give the clear through the walkie talkie. After a moment we all heard through the walkie talkie "All clear."
I couldn't hear any sounds effects of Grace moving cause she had the walkie talkie off but then her voice call from it saying. "Okay I'm in."
Philip and Tyler furiously switched places. Tyler spoke, telling Grace what to do. Basically she had to download some stuff onto a thumb drive Tyler gave her. While that was going on Mike was standing out side the door with a walkie talkie making sure no one would come in. He had to press the call button once if we needed to be more quiet and cautious. If he pressed it twice in a row that meant that someone was coming and we needed to hide. But that wasn't likely to happen.
We sat in silence for a moment and listened as Tyler gave Grace directions. It sounded like it was going good so far. Then we heard a beep coming from Tyler's walkie talkie. It meant that we needed to more quiet. We all looked at each other nervously. Then Tyler's walkie talkie beeped twice! We all immediately searched for somewhere to hide. Tyler's walkie talkie was beeping repeatedly now! I had glanced at the door and saw two shadows. One must have been Mike trying to stall for us while the other shadow tried to get past Mike and into the kitchen.
"In the pantry!" Jasmine hissed
Since there was no where else to hide we all scurried into it. Before I ran inside I turned back to the vent. "Wait! The rope is sticking out!"
Philip who acted faster than I did ran over and pushed the rope inside the vent and closed it and screwed in the screws. He did it within a matter of seconds and next thing I knew he slipped back in the pantry and we closed the door, only to hear the door open and Mike's voice.
"And furthermore, ma'am, I think you should make the food a lot more healthy! Uh, yesterday morning, my bagel sandwich had way too much bacon! Did you know that pigs aren't actually-"
"That's nice young man." said another voice, it was an older women's voice who I'm guessing was one of the cooks for our school "Now, if you don't mind. I just need to find my keys."
"I'll help!" announced Mike
We heard a bit of scuffling and then "Oh! I've got them." said the lunch lady
"That's great ma'am." Mike sounded nervous
"Alright, lets go. The cafeteria is closed at this time."
"Yes ma'am."
We heard the door shut and after a moment of waiting Tyler turned his walkie talkie on again.
"Hello? Are you there?" Mike voice said coming from the walkie talkie
"Yeah," Tyler answered
"We are all clear."
We all sighed and high fived each other. We exited the pantry and went over to the vent and Philip unscrewed it. He put his hands in searching for the rope. His expression became grim and his hands went frantic searching for the rope.
"What? What?" asked Jasmine nervously
"The rope! Its gone!"
"What!?" cried Tyler and he got on his knees and put his head in the vent. "He's right! It's gone!"
"Grace must have been ready to come up and she yanked the rope to hard."
"Hey, guys." said Mike's voice from the walkie talkie "Are you getting Grace out the vent yet?"
"No," Tyler said back "The rope is gone."
"We have a major problem! Over!" called Tony's voice
"Yeah," continued Tyler "The rope is gone."
"No even worse! Grace is gone!"
"Grace come in Grace!" Tyler voice sounded panicked "Hello? Grace?"
After a moment of silence. "She's not answering."
"Hey Tony," called Mike
"Yeah?"
"Is Audree with you?"
"Nah, man. She went through a vent when I told Grace that the doctors were coming back and she couldn't go through the front because there are a lot of teachers around. She could get in trouble if she's caught being a room without a teachers permission."
"So you let her go through a vent?!" Mike practically yelled
"It happened really fast and I was trying to catch up to the doctors so I could stall them longer so Grace could get out of there!"
"Do you think Audree made it to Grace in time and pulled her up?" asked Tyler
"Its possible," answered Philip "But then why would they not answer the walkie talkie saying that they are okay?"
"What?" called Tony "Bro I can't hear you."
Philip repeated what he said through the walkie talkie.
"We need to go look for them." said Mike
We all agreed and started to split up and look for them all around the school. Finally we found them in the garden sitting at our usual spot. We all ran to them and hugged them telling how worried we all were. I noticed when Tyler hugged Grace her whole face turned pink.
Once we were all sitting around my computer and Grace plugged in the thumb drive we all saw the reports the doctors had in here. Apparently the reason they were sent here was because they had a program on their computer that would be able to tell if someones blood matched ours. Since we each had, had blood taken from us at a regular Doctor they were able to take that information. Now they were going to take everyone at the school's blood and be able to pick us out of the crowd, and take us.
